Even though we all come from different social and econominal backgrounds, we still face the changing realities of our time without any exception: We are bombarded by the media, the flow of information, speed of the city, consuming society and many other aspects every day. These changes cause a schizophrenic society which is not able to recognize its manifold of identities. It creates the situation similar to walking on fluid ground.
A and B is almost equal aims to create a dialogue between two artists.
Parallel Passing
With the video work Parallel Passing, different objects are used which at first glance, do not seem to be connected to each other. In the style of silhouettes and outline drawings, the images float through a white room. These objects are taken from everyday life; the media, the household and point on a variety of identities. They create a moving collage which turnes into an absurd encounter, like a chaotic daydream.
Twilight States
Alina Viola Grumiller’s drawings spread into the space and incorporate the given architecture. They map out the environment and create a guideline of encounters with various objects and circumstances. In addition to the wall drawings, these images appear printed as collage on the T-shirts. Montaged on the wall, these framed T-shirts are set in relation to the mural that surrounds it. As the images touch upon our memories, reminding us of images that we have archived in our heads we in turn mediate to redefine them.
